Welcome to my Blog on the Beirut WoW brands

Welcome to Beirut, a vibrant city that lives day and night. A city that was destroyed and rebuilt many times in history. A city that lives on the edge and where people's mantra is "carpe diem" as nobody knows what tomorrow is made of!

Well, really I did not know what tomorrow was going to be made of when I started these interviews for my WoW Brands Blog! I initially thought that most people would mention the usual WoW brands such as Apple, Google... but the reality is that each one of the people I interviewed came back with surprising answers, or let me say very personal answers. And as varied as can be, all these testimonies had a lot in common. I will let you enjoy the videos for now and leave it to you to try to spot these commonalities...

You also have an opportunity at the end to vote for your WoW brand!

Interview with Georges

Georges is a senior consultant who is passionate about renewable energy. He shares with us his other passion for a brand that has reached cult status:

APPLE, his WoW brand is good at launching products that are reliable, well-designed, cool and innovative. All of his friends use Apple which also matters to him as he feels that Apple has been able to really create an 'Apple community'. His first encounter with that APPLE was back in the days of the first family computer. And although he went on from there to Windows based PCs he recently came back to Apple and is now an Apple addict!

Interview with Miriam

Miriam did not have a WoW brand in mind until she remembered a brand that had particularly caught her attention:

Miriam's WoW brand is Virgin...or is it Branson? Well intimately linked, Virgin is a brand that is such a reflection of its founder and owner. A multi-brand that is as daring as its boss!

Virgin, a plethora of brands...

Interview with William

In Jordan again, William was very passionate about one particular brand. Here it is, at last! I thought it would never come...

...APPLE. A WoW brand that is innovative, reliable and cool! A brand that has been able to re-invent itself and shape the industry (...and occasionally build entirely new ways of doing things) while continuing to attract the trendy and hip.

Interview with Maissa

Maissa has been working for 12 years in various companies across the Globe and is now back to Lebanon working for the family business. Here is her take on WoW brands:

Her WoW brands are: KENZO parfums, H&M and ZARA. For KENZO, she loves the creativity and ability of that brand to inspire with the same basic ingredients, only packaged differently. For H&M and ZARA she is impressed by their ability in such a short time to have become almost trendsetters in the fashion world...

Interview with Paul

Paul worked at virtually every FMCG multinational there is. From Heineken to Gillette to Pepsico to Colgate and now Nokia. But none of these brands seem to have made an impression on him as much as:

His WoW brand is HERMES the French luxury brand. It represents for him the best that luxury has to offer while remaining niche and highly desirable.

Interview with Annie

Annie is Canadian and she lives in Lebanon. She tells us about her WoW brand:

Her WoW brand is Volkswagen, a brand she feels ressembles her. She first experienced Volkswagen when she went to college and had to select a car. That brand really knew how to take feedback from customers and treat them well. She still drives a VW...

Interview with Syma

Syma is an anthropolgist turned business woman. Here is what she has to say about her WoW brand:

Syma's WoW brand is a brand she grew up with: VOLVO. A WoW brand for her needs to be able to relate to her emotionally and she feels VOLVO is the brand that has a lot of emotional baggage for her as she grew up with a VOLVO station-wagon. She loves the brand for its safety, reliability and ability to evolve while remaining true to what it stands for.

Interview with Jihane

Jihane, a lawyer by profession, is about to tell us about her WoW brand:
